Buildings are responsible for almost 50 per cent of the UK's energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Since October 2008 all properties - homes, commercial and public buildings - when bought, sold, built or rented need an EPC. Larger public buildings also need to display an energy certificate.
by 4 January 2009 the first inspection of all existing air-conditioning systems over 250 kW must have occurred. The first inspection of all remaining air-conditioning systems over 12 kW must have happened by 4 January 2011

BREEAM Industrial can be used to assess the environmental impact of storage and distribution, light industrial units, factories and workshops. The ratings that are achievable under the BREEAM Industrial scheme are PASS, GOOD, VERY GOOD & EXCELLENT. Buildings assessed under BREEAM Industrial will be broadly categorised into one of the following types: Speculative: This category covers the assessment of speculatively developed buildings with an unknown end occupier. Fitted Out: This category covers the assessment of buildings that are being designed and fitted out for a known end occupier, or where the end occupier is unknown but the operational area is being fitted out. BREEAM Industrial assessments can be carried out for:    * New buildings    * Design stage and post construction stages    * Buildings undergoing major refurbishment  To see what issues are covered by a BREEAM Industrial assessment two pre-assessment estimators are available from the BREEAM web site one for speculative buildings and another for full fit out.
